Whatever Happened to Cities and Knights, Through the Ages, Agricola and more?

A number of games that have been promised this year seemed to have disappeared along the way or are being interminably delayed. Let’s try and pick through what we know about these games and determine if there is still hope left in their realisation.

Civil War – Battle for Gettysburg

Status: promised for April

We have absolutely no idea on the status of this. Beyond the initial enthusiasm showed in March when this trailer was released nothing forthcoming has come forth.

Cities and Knights Expansion for Catan HD

Status: promised for April 2012

Developers: USM

Originally slated for February and then April. Several months later we are well overdue for this game. However, as recently as July we had confirmation from USM that the game is still in testing and should be seeking release sometime soon.

USM have this to say:

As the final phase of the beta is still running, we’d like to give you an update on the current development status of the next Catan expansion. However, first of all we’d like to thank all beta applicants for their interest – and all those who made it into the beta – for the valuable input we’ve already received!

Right now our focus is fine-tuning the computer opponents (AI): “Cities and Knights” introduces numerous new rules and elements that will add both depth and variety to the game. We want to make sure that the AI makes use of all these possibilities, but we’ll also tune the different AI opponents to difficulty levels that will suit both beginners and advanced Catan players. So far the testers’ feedback has been a great help, but we’ll certainly need some more time to polish the expansion for release. We’ll let you know as soon as our testing is complete!

Through the Ages

Status: promised for May 2012

This project has been pushed back to September, and seems to be nothing more than Codito’s notorious tendency to promise several months before their actual release date. Of course their original promise was premised on the idea that their other games would be released earlier so that would have pushed everything back.

Age of Industry

Status: promised for May 2012

See above…

Agricola

Status: promised for Autumn 2012 (was originally Spring)

We’re not sure what the delays are for this game, however we do know that this game is still in production as their website has advised of a new release date.

Red November

This was due out January 2012, and pushed back to 2nd Quarter 2012. Initially reports from gamezebo suggest that this has become vapourware. However, later reports are still promising the release of the game.

We have now passed that date… so perhaps the attempts to resurrect have not succeeded.

These aren’t always stories you’ll find written down, they can be stories told over a coffee, told by firelight, told through art act and lifestyle. Of course, we all tell stories. Um, did you click on the red November "later reports" link?  It leads to a page.... That's nothing more than a spam placeholder. The Dev, fierce wombat, has  I web presence.  The game is done. Unless there is some weird misspelling of their site, it doesn't exist now. Shame, any game with a massive squid has promise!

Goko has the license for it from what I read (Same company whose putting out Dominion) So my guess is next year since Dominion was supposed to be out in Feb.

Does anyone know if there is any word about adaptations of Goa, Factory Manager, Power Grid or Alhambra?

@Croc I would really like Alhambra on the iPad, unfortunately I haven't seen any news about the game going for the iPad

@The Unfortunately Goko has been having some technical difficulties all day with little word on an ETA, so no Dominion yet still. I did see Thunderstone was just put on the app store though so that will tide me over for now.
