So I’m still trying to get a handle on this “writing to a schedule while also doing a full time job, studying, and getting a book out according to a publication schedule”. Let me just assume that as of writing this, it is Monday somewhere (even if it’s not by the time of publication). Perhaps I would kindly ask of our readers to be flexible in interpreting what constitutes Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays!

Puerto Rico Companion App

A small side note for your interest is the release of a Puerto Rico companion app. This won’t be much good for you if all you have is the base game and/or the digital game; however if you (like me) have the base game and expansions, then this is a great game for choosing between the buildings in set up.

Cafe International

One of the big items of note that didn’t quite make it into last week’s news was the release of Cafe International. I have been provided with a reviewer code, I have played it, and I will be getting out a review of it for tomorrow (time willing).

Playdek Sales

Playdek would like you to know about their sales going on right now, in honour of Gen Con (and some new games).

They have put all their current games and select in-app purchases on sale to celebrate Gen Con 2012! They will be reducing the price on the following games:

- Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer$0.99; with Return of the Fallen; Storm of Souls; and Promo Pack 1 at 0.99c each
- Summoner Wars: “Buy Everything Bundle”$4.99
- Nightfall$0.99
- Food Fight iOS$0.99

The sale will run from the 16th August 2012 until the 23rd; it is in celebration of Gen Con 2012 and the release of two new titles; speaking of which…

Playdek Releases

Playdek have also confirmed new titles, for which rule books have been made available:

Smash Up!: This is a ‘shufflebuilding’ game made in collaboration between Playdek and Alderac Entertainment Group for some time this year. It features “Pirates, Ninja, Zombies, Robots, Dinosaurs and more”. Playdek promises to “offer the best features from all our games and brings AEG’s awesome new game play mechanic to the world of deck games”.

Tank on Tank:

Playdek are also happy to announce its first collaboration with Lock n Load Publishing, to bring to you Tank on Tank!

Tank on Tank is a light tank themed war game, drawing upon tactical mechanics designed to be learned in five minutes and played during a lunch break. It’s premise has “[t]he Allies land in Normandy to liberate France from German rule. The liberation however, won’t be an easy road. From D-Day at Omaha Beach, through the battle for Normandy, the Allies will fight the Germans tooth and nail, bayonet and rifle, tank on tank.”

Can’t Stop:

The last new title is coming in collaboration with Gryphon Games. A dice game based on risks and gambits designed by Sid Sackson.

In addition, Playdek is announcing that it will be bringing Summoner Wars to Android. Look for further announcements about Playdek’s Android plans in the future. Summoner Wars on iOS will be playable in the Plaid Hat booth.

Completed a Masters of Jurisprudence at University of Sydney. I am an activist, dramaturge, and instigator of strange mind experiments. I’m a storyteller, and I mostly tell stories about people. These aren’t always stories you’ll find written down, they can be stories told over a coffee, told by firelight, told through art act and lifestyle. Of course, we all tell stories. We love our little fictions, lies and dreams – I just like to embellish a bit more than most. My current project of substantial size is called Eidolon. It can be found here: http://www.eidolon.me
